Annual Percentage Rate Calculation Program for Windows (APRWIN)

The Windows-based version of the Annual Percentage Rate program (APRWIN v 6.1) is an efficient tool for verifying annual percentage rates and reimbursement adjustments. This version includes relevant finance charge and APR tolerances for verifying the accuracy of annual percentage rates and finance charges on loans secured by real estate or a dwelling.

The APRWIN program is available for purchase for $20 or free by download.

We would appreciate your feedback on this program. Please send questions and comments to:

Office of the Comptroller of the Currency
Community and Consumer Policy Department
Mail Stop 6-7
Washington, D.C. 20219

Although great care has been taken in the preparation of this APRWIN program, the OCC makes no warranty of complete accuracy. Further, the OCC does not recommend this program over other methods to calculate annual percentage rate.

Please uninstall any earlier version of the APRWIN program before installing this new version.

Download the program

To download for just your machine or for distribution over your network - use the single-file version. (Note:  The file size is approximately 4 megabytes.)

  1. Download one compressed file (APRINSTALL.EXE) to a temporary folder on your hard drive.
  2. Execute APRINSTALL.EXE to begin the installation program.
  3. Follow the prompts.

To create diskettes that you can use to install the program elsewhere - download our three-file version and follow the instructions below:

  1. Label three blank 3-1/2" high-density diskettes '1-APRDISK.Z01', '2-APRDISK.Z02', and '3-APRDISK.ZIP'
  2. Download three spanned zipped files (APRDISK.Z01, APRDISK.Z02, and APRDISK.ZIP) to your hard drive. Be sure to select 'All Files' for 'Save as type:' when saving. (Note: APRDISK.Z01 and APRDISK.Z02 are approximately 1424 kilobytes each. APRDISK.ZIP is approximately 1139 kilobytes.) These files may be directly downloaded to the blank diskettes.
  3. Copy file APRDISK.Z01 to the diskette labeled '1-APRDISK.Z01', file APRDISK.Z02 to the diskette labeled '2-APRDISK.Z02', and file APRDISK.ZIP to the diskette labeled '3-APRDISK.ZIP'.

At this point, you will have three diskettes that you can take to any PC on which you want to load the APR program. To install the program from these diskettes, do the following:

  1. Install the program
    1. Insert the diskette labeled '3-APRDISK.ZIP' in the appropriate drive of the machine on which you want to install the program.
    2. Open Windows Explorer and doubleclick on the file APRDISK.ZIP.
    3. The classical view of Winzip opens.
    4. Doubleclick on Setup.exe and follow the prompts (disk number 1 or part 1 refers to the diskette labeled '1-APRDISK.Z01, part 2 refers to the diskette labeled '2-APRDISK.Z02, and part 3 refers to the diskette labeled '3-APRDISK.ZIP).
