Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Provides Consumer Information at National Consumer Protection Week Event on Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON—The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) promoted awareness of consumer protection resources during today's National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) event on Capitol Hill.

OCC representatives distributed the agency's HelpWithMyBank booklets, which provide answers to the 250 most frequently asked questions about financial products and services from national bank and federal savings association customers and outline how consumers can file on-line complaints. OCC staff also provided Consumer Advisories, in English and Spanish, on a variety of consumer topics.

"The OCC plays an important role in consumer protection," said Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry. "Our outreach today is one of several we conduct to help consumers make informed financial decisions and protect against unfair, fraudulent, and deceptive practices."

NCPW is a coordinated campaign that encourages consumers nationwide to take full advantage of their consumer rights and make better-informed decisions. The OCC's materials, in English and Spanish, and information from all event participants, are available at the NCPW Website http://www.ncpw.gov/.
