Karen Solomon to Serve as Acting Chief Counsel

WASHINGTON — Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry announced today that Karen Solomon would begin a three-month term as acting Chief Counsel on January 1 while the agency continues its search for a successor to Julie Williams.

When Ms. Williams stepped down as Chief Counsel on September 30, 2012, Mr. Curry asked the agency’s two deputy Chief Counsels, Dan Stipano and Ms. Solomon, to take turns serving in an acting capacity until a successor to Ms. Williams could be named.

“I want to thank Dan for the exceptional job he did as acting Chief Counsel over these past three months,” Mr. Curry said.  “I also want to thank Karen for agreeing to take on this job for the next calendar quarter.  I know how demanding this job is, and I’m grateful to lead an agency that has such a strong pool of talented senior executives who can be tapped to serve in these positions when needed.”
