CRA for Community-Based Organizations (Indianola, MS - July 25, 2018)
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation will co-sponsor a workshop in Indianola, Mississippi on July 25, 2018. The purpose of the workshop is to review relevant bank regulation and discuss how community organizations can collaborate more effectively with banks. Topics covered include, an overview of the CRA, the impact of bank performance context, the types of activities that qualify for CRA consideration, and recommended strategies to develop successful partnerships with banks. The workshop will also discuss broadband access and how it relates to the CRA definition of community development. CRA Beyond the Basics Workshop (Salina, KS - July 31, 2018)
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City are co-sponsoring a workshop in Salina, Kansas on July 31, 2018. This is a knowledge-sharing event tailored for experienced CRA Officers. The training provides a discussion of self-assessment, performance context, and assessing community development needs. Case studies will be used to provide realistic scenarios as discussion background. Bankers Roundtable:Opportunities in Economic Development (Pinellas Park, Florida - August 7, 2018)
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation are co-sponsoring a roundtable on August 7, 2018 in Pinellas Park, Florida. The roundtable will allow attendees to hear from leaders of federal, state and local economic development programs regarding activities that revitalize communities, support small businesses, and create jobs. The event will also include an overview of the Community Reinvestment Act and how economic development activities can meet community development needs. Financial Inclusion Summit (Monroe, LA - August 8, 2018)
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas are co-sponsoring a workshop in Monroe, Louisiana on August 8, 2018. The purpose of the event is to engage community leaders in a discussion of financial inclusion strategies including, banking the unbanked, financial education, affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization, entrepreneurship and small business supports, and workforce development. CRA Roundtable (Monroe, LA - August 9, 2018)
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas are co-sponsoring a roundtable in Monroe, Louisiana on August 9, 2018. The roundtable is a follow up on the Financial Inclusion Summit held on August 8 and it will offer additional discussion of the community development opportunities presented at the summit. More specifically, the roundtable will discuss building financial capability, providing affordable housing, strengthening small businesses and promoting entrepreneurship, and developing our workforce. The roundtable will also include a CRA Q&A presentation and an opportunity for bankers to dialogue with examiners regarding the Q&As and other CRA "hot topics." CRA Banker Roundtable "Financing Affordable Housing" (Cleveland, OH - August 14, 2018)
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland will co-sponsor a roundtable in Cleveland, Ohio on August, 14, 2018. The roundtable will highlight community development opportunities for financing affordable housing in Northeast Ohio. Panelists will include an officer of a national bank that is originating High Loan to Value Loans; a staff of a CDC that is rehabbing homes, without subsidies, to sell to LMI borrowers; and an officer of a homeownership counseling agency who will discuss challenges for LMI borrowers in a broader context.
